SAMUEL D. KNIGHT, DDS
Dr. Samuel Knight spent his early years working on a farm, learning the many principles of hard work. He fulfilled a two-year mission in Ontario, Canada, where he learned about the joy of serving others. Attending Weber State College, he received his bachelor’s degree in 1985. He was accepted as one of ten students to receive a scholarship in the Dental Education Program at the University of Utah.
After graduating from dental school at Creighton University in 1988, Dr. Knight was accepted as one of three candidates to attend further training in a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City. This allowed him to receive additional training in sedation, root canals, and difficult crown and bridge cases, as well as dentures and partial dentures. Periodontal disease and difficult surgical extractions were also part of the training. This has proved to be a very valuable part of his education.
Dr. Knight continues to receive education and instruction on the latest techniques and materials by qualified professors in the fields that they specialize in. It is important to him to ensure that his patients receive the very best procedures and materials available to them today.
Dr. Knight has the latest in laser, implant, and 3D X-ray technology. He is a member of the American Dental Association®, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Utah Dental Association, the Weber District Dental Society, the Academy of LDS Dentists, and the Ogden Academy of Dentistry Study Club. In addition to his educational pursuits, Dr. Knight enjoys the outdoors. He enjoys running, biking, swimming, skiing and hunting. On his days off, he loves to go on a Harley (motorcycle) ride. He is able to participate in all of these activities with his family, which is his most prized possession.
SPENCER W. KNIGHT, DDS
Dr. Spencer Knight grew up watching his father treat patients in his dental office. He enjoyed seeing the happy faces on the patients as they came in to have their smiles restored. From a young age, he knew what dentistry was all about. He served a two-year LDS mission to Lima, Peru, where he learned to speak Spanish. He enjoyed his time there and loved the people he served. He returned to attend Utah State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. While attending USU, Dr. Spencer ran a window washing business and was hired at a dental lab. At the dental lab, he learned about another side of dentistry that has served him well in his career.
After graduating from Utah State, Dr. Spencer attended dental school at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a school with a rich 100-year history. With small class sizes and exceptional clinical experiences, his love and knowledge of dentistry grew even more. While there, Dr. Spencer successfully completed the U.S. dental board exams as well as the Canadian dental licensing exams, enabling him to practice in many places around the world.
Dr. Spencer’s father encouraged him to attend a residency to further hone his dental skills. Dr. Spencer applied and was accepted as one of ten residents at the University of Utah general practitioner residency in Salt Lake City. While there, Dr. Spencer was able to treat special needs patients and medically complex individuals in both clinical and operating room settings. He was exposed to difficult denture cases, crown and bridge work, dental lasers, and advanced root canal techniques. He also studied dental implants, the surgical extraction of wisdom teeth, sedation, and many other procedures. Dr. Spencer loved his experience at the University of Utah, and felt it was well worth his time to receive the advanced training. He feels this will allow him to serve most, if not all, of his patients’ dental needs. In addition, Dr. Spencer is certified with the American Board of Laser Surgery for advanced dental laser surgery. He is so excited for all the great ways he can treat his patients with this great technology, minimizing patient discomfort and performing dental surgery with little to no bleeding involved!
Dr. Spencer is excited to work alongside his father and our staff. He hopes to continue to instill the same trust and confidence in his patients as Dr. Knight has. Dr. Spencer also looks forward to creating lasting relationships with his patients.
